Raymond Green was kidnapped on November 6, 1978, from his home in Atlanta, Georgia. His mother, Donna Green, had met a woman named Lisa Morris while watching Raymond in the nursery window at Grady Memorial Hospital shortly after his birth. The woman claimed to be visiting her sister, who had just given birth, and they engaged in conversation over several days, during which "Lisa" made multiple visits and asked many personal questions about Donna and Raymond.

Morris was described as an African-American woman, approximately 23 or 24 years old, standing between 5'5" and 5'6 tall, and weighing between 160 and 170 pounds. She had light brown skin, dark eyes, full lips, a small nose, and noticeable scars on her face. A sketch of her has been circulated in connection with the case.

On the day Donna and Raymond were discharged from the hospital, Morris asked for a ride, revealing Donna's home address. A few days later, on November 6, Morris showed up unexpectedly at Donna’s apartment, claiming she wanted to check on them. Trusting her, Donna let her in. After a while, Donna went to take a shower, leaving Morris with Raymond and his uncle, who was caring for another infant. When Donna returned about fifteen minutes later, both Morris and Raymond were gone.

Raymond’s uncle, who had briefly fallen asleep, reported that Morris had taken Raymond outside. A neighbor later saw Morris carrying Raymond, wrapped in a blanket, as she got into a brown vehicle with a male driver. They drove away, and neither Morris nor Raymond has been seen since.

The information Morris provided to Donna was later found to be false. Authorities discovered that there was no woman named Lisa Morris, nor any record of a sister giving birth at Grady Memorial Hospital. The Atlanta Police Department lost Raymond's case file after his disappearance, necessitating a new investigation. Some authorities suspect that Raymond may have been sold for adoption outside the United States.

At the time of his disappearance, Raymond was the second of Donna's seven children, born when she was just sixteen. Although Raymond's father has since passed away, Donna continues to hope that her son will one day be found. His case remains unsolved.
